We are seeking motivated Growth Area Planners at various career stages. Whether you are an emerging professional with just over a year of experience or a seasoned expert, there is an opportunity for you to make an impact.
Band 5: $81k – $89k + Super
Band 6: $94k – $102k + Super
Band 7: $105k – $118k + Super
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time (Monday to Friday) Location: Hybrid Working Arrangements (Balance of office and home)
The Role
As a member of the Growth Area Planning team, you will provide specialist advice, manage high-priority projects, and facilitate the end-to-end development process for major subdivisions. You will act as a key liaison between the community, the development industry, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
End-to-End Processing: Manage complex planning applications and major subdivision projects with professional judgement and efficiency.
Reporting & Advocacy: Prepare high-quality reports for Council and represent the organisation as an advocate at VCAT and Planning Panels as required.
Problem Solving: Resolve complex planning issues through negotiation and mediation.
Strategic Input: Contribute to planning scheme amendments, urban design frameworks, and process improvement initiatives.
Collaboration: Provide guidance to internal departments and mentorship to junior staff (relevant to senior bands).

About You
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about urban outcomes and possess:
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in statutory planning, growth areas, or a related field.
Education: Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Environment, or a related discipline.
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence positive outcomes.
Analytical Mindset: The ability to identify complex problems and provide consistent, logical solutions.
